What is the Worst Romantic Comedy of All Time?
There are so many to choose from.
Valentine’s Day is less than a week away, and love is in the store aisles. What better way to celebrate the Hallmark holiday than to come up with a list of the worst romantic comedies of all time.
You know how it goes. There are two attractive, likeable characters that are meant to be together, but for whatever reason, are kept apart. Sometimes it’s a goofball friend, conniving ex-girlfriend or shady past that keep the two star-crossed lovers apart. Until surprising circumstances bring them together for a happily-ever after.
Not all rom coms are created equally, though, and some are worse than others. Moviefone came up with a list of the 25 worst romantic comedies, and not surprisingly, movies starring Dane Cook, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Tara Reid make the list.
Some of the best of the worst:
- The Hottie & the Nottie (starring Paris Hilton)
- From Justin to Kelly (American Idol spin off)
- Summer Catch (Jessica Biel, Freddie Prinze, Jr.)
- My Boss's Daughter (Ashton Kutcher)
So….tell us in the comments section. What is the worst romantic comedy of all time?

I have to agree with Bill.... Gigli was the worst Rom-Com ever.

I think From Justin to Kelly is up there. The choreography was okay but the acting ...

I agree, Gigli is pretty awful but what would you expect from J-LO and Ben Affleck? I think "What Happens In Vegas" is worse, starring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz.

I'd have to agree with Quincy--I cringe every time "What Happen in Vegas" is playing on TBS.

While it made me giggle a very minor amount, Blind Date with Bruce Willis was *HORRIBLE*. The whole premise of giving someone a glass of wine and having them go silly crazy.... please.
Giggilie (I don't even want to spell the name of that silly movie) was awful too.
Bleagth!

Does the Twilight series count as a rom com? Does Titanic count? I really dislike those. My wife was watching Tortilla Soup. That looked awful. Mystic Pizza is bad. Then there's anything with a cast member from Friends. Maybe You've Got Mail. That was a rough one. I don't like Pocahontas. They're obviously lip-synching throughout. Oh, I know, I once saw The Story of Us on a plane. That was terrible. When a Man Loves a Woman (another Meg Ryan flick). That's hard to stomach. Although not a comedy. Runaway Bride! Whew! I was on a date when I walked out on that one. I wonder if she's still there. That's my pick.

Does "Dumb & Dumber" count as a rom-com? That would get my vote. On the positive side, among my favorite rom-coms would be the "Diary of Bridget Jones I and 2," and "Love Actually"....I love when the little boy is in the octopus suite :)

No no no, Stephanie! You do not get to use this platform to rip Dumb & Dumber and then gush over your favorite rom com scene! There's no "on the positive side."

The Proposal. Sandra Bullock again. Just saying.

I've actually never seen any of the "best of the worst" - and now I know why! Michael, I liked "You've Got Mail" and "Runaway Bride." Must be a girl thing. Other must-sees are "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days."

I liked "You've Got Mail" too!

Agreed, must be a girl thing. I liked all of those movies. To add to that list: "The Ugly Truth." Very entertaining!

The Proposal and All About Steve are good movies, I'm not sure what James and Marcia were watching. Good, funny, romantic comedies.

The Proposal? Is that the one where Sandra B. is a train ticket lady and the guy has amnesia? What about those Sandra Bullock beauty queen movies?

"Miss Congeniality" is a great movie! Is that considered a romantic comedy? The "train ticket lady" one was "While You Were Sleeping."

I would say the best romantic comedy is "The Jerk." The worst? "Serendipity" was pretty bad.
