Three Cops Arrested on Drug Charges; Police Search Officer's Algonquin Home

Three Schaumburg Police Department officers were arrested by U.S. Drug Enforcement agents on Wednesday.

Three Schaumburg cops have been arrested for robbing drug dealers following an investigation that lead authorities to one of the officers' homes, which is in Algonquin, Wednesday night, according to media reports.

U.S. Drug Enforcement agents arrested John Cichy, Matthew Hudak and Terrance O’Brien on Wednesday and the three Schaumburg police officers had a court appearance this morning in DuPage County, according to the Chicago Tribune.

WBBM Radio reported that bond was set at $750,000 for each officer in the case.

The officers are accused of selling marijuana and cocaine in DuPage County after they took the drugs from police seizures "and used a former informant to unload the product," according to the Daily Herald.

The officers face charges of manufacturing and delivering cocaine, armed violence and theft, according to the Chicago Tribune. The officers have been placed on administrative leave, according to the Daily Herald.

Patch will update with more information as it becomes available.

Wow and to think the government wants us to give our guns up when this is who they send out to protect us.

Maybe we need to make gun ownership mandatory so we don't have to trust in the ever violent and corrupted police in the US

I know one is surprised over this. The facts are most folks with authority have major issues. Anyone take a look at our president and his record lately? America is going down so fast Boxorocks will see to it!!! Cops are just trying to survive and 6 out of ten are probably good husbands and wives and fathers and mothers.

Who would ever agree to such a thing? My comment was saying no one is Surprised over this. Many policeman sell drugs and no it is not acceptable. As I said 6 out of ten are good... It is the 4 out of ten cops that are like 40% percent of Americans... Entitled, Fat, Lazy, no religion, no morals, all in it for themselves...

Amazing especially since Schaumburg requires all landlords to take a course on how to spot if their tenant is dealing drugs. It is taught by the police department. Perhaps they should look in their own backyard.

Darren, read the news! The President was reelected because a majority of the American people voted for him. He inherited a recessed economy, a failed real estate market, and bank systems that were near collapse. When Clinton left office, there was a surplus of funds, and no debt. Eight years of Bush left us with trillions of dollars of debt caused primarily by two (ongoing) wars. We basically financed these wars with a credit card. Don’t believe me. Google: costofwar.com. What do you have against our President? Can you at least list one valid criticism? Also, you should learn a little respect.

Gloria, please don't hijack this thread and turn it into a "wishing Jimmy Carter was back in office" story.

This article is not about Obama or his incompetence.

I'm so sick and tired of all this politicizing ! In our democratic society our president is elected by the majority of it's citizens. Will all Americans show some unity and get behind him. A house divided cannot stand. Gee ! Enough !

What is wrong with this? They don't make enough money for the work they do and the stress of having to deal with idiot people on a daily basis Theses dealers know the game well and use the courts and prisons as a pawn. Do yourself a favor and do a ride-along sometime with an officer and see first hand the amount of patience they must show dealing with too many people that have watched too many Law and Order episodes. So what if they take money from drug dealers. They are risking their lives for some dirt bag that probably has zero remorse or respect for human life

"So what if they take money from drug dealers."

Tim, we know how bad the economy and the jobs situation is because of the current administration's incompetence, but having the police do 'sidejobs' and take money from drug dealers probably isn't the best answer for those guys trying to make a few more bucks.

Say Dan,
What happened to: "Gloria, please don't hijack this thread and turn it into a "wishing Jimmy Carter was back in office" story. This article is not about Obama or his incompetence."
Guess it's just ok to comment on the current administration if your insutling it like you are!?!?

Dan, if by the "current administration's incompetence" you mean the current Republican and Tea Party representatives that block or screw up the President's true and honest intentions then you're right and you should continue your rant.

sharon, you're right.. that was my objective. i saw somebody take this article and somehow make it about something totally unrelated and ran with it.

some of these threads get ridiculous (any thread involving guns) and the banter ends up being about libtards and conservatards.

Just because 3 officers were arrested for these charges does not mean that all police officers are bad and corrupt. I agree with one of the statements Tim made...go on a ride-a-long with a police officer. I bet you wouldn't last the night. These men and women put their lives on the line every day, deal with people who MF them, spit on them, fight them, and lie to them every day. Tell me...do you need to wear a bullet proof vest to work every day? I doubt it. My husband has been an officer for almost 18 years, has had to not only deal with the scum of the earth, but also had to go on calls where people were injured, or worst of all, killed. He's been to numerous autopsies and held dead babies and had to tell those parents that their child or loved one didn't make it. So don't use this as a platform for your politics and don't be so quick to generalize and lump all peace officers into the same category. Yes, this is a profession he chose, but he is great at it and I hate when people jump on these stories and start ripping on those who actually take pride in their work.

I agree Tracy, my fiance is a police officer and he too puts his life on the line everytime he walks out the door. Its amazing to me how many people slam police officers , but when they need help, who do they call? Sure as hell not their friends, they call the police. Imagine if we didn't have police officers, what would this world be like. I don't even want to think about it. Not all police officers are on the take or dirty cops. Yes there are some out there, but don't catigorize all of them.
Thank you Tracy, I stand beside you.

If any of us committed an armed robbery we would get 10-15 years minimum when these guys get bailed out they will never see the inside of a jail again when in fact they should get double what a civilian would get. Not all cops are bad I grew up in the city maybe 6 out of ten where crooked in my neighborhood but some of the corruption I have seen from LE would make these three look like angels. If they would pay them more there would definitely be less bad cops that's for sure.

If the cops feel they are not making enough money in their jobs why did they choose this profession? They knew what they were getting into. What do they expect? They only need a high school education then only a 12 wk training course to become a cop and carry a gun. Why do they feel they should make a lot of money if they have very limited education?? So many people go to college for years and don't even make what a 12wk trained cop does!
What's wrong with this picture?
