Ready to Swim? Area Pools, Beaches Open this Weekend

Temperatures could reach as high as 90 degrees over this Memorial Day weekend.

 

Several area pools and beaches are scheduled to open over the Memorial Day weekend.

Perfect timing, as temperatures could reach as high as 90 degrees on Sunday and 85 on Memorial Day. The National Weather Service has an updated forecast for the coming days. 

Here are some area swimming pools, beaches and recreational facilities that will be opening soon:

Lions Armstrong Memorial Pool, 599 Longwood Drive in Algonquin, will open on Saturday, May 26 for the summer season. The facility features a 1-meter spring diving board, lap pool, interactive splash pad area, concession stand, and pool deck complete with chaise lounges. Open swim hours will be from 12 to 6 p.m. Saturday through Monday. 

Sunset Park Splash Pad, 5200 Miller Road in Lake in the Hills, will open on Memorial Day for the summer season.  Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Main Beach, is located at Lake Park, 2330 Lake Avenue in Crystal Lake, and will open on Saturday, May 26 for the summer season. The park offers an expansive waterfront area and boat rental. The bath house contains concessions and bathrooms. The beach is open from 9 a.m. until dusk daily and 3 p.m. until dusk when school is in sessions.

The beach at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake will open Saturday, May 26. The beach has a total of 32,000 square feet of swimming area as well as a smaller beach that visitors can swim out to. There is a also a swimming raft to swim to and jump off of. The 500-acre park also includes a boathouse, marina, gazebo, pavilion, playground and splash park, walking trails, picnic area, and a 280-acre lake for fishing, swimming and boating. Starting May 26, the marina will be open daily from 5:30 a.m. until sunset.

While Indian Trail Beach will not open over Memorial Day weekend, residents won't have to wait too long to take a dip at the Lake in the Hills beach. Indian Trail Beach, 228 Indian Trail, officially opens for the summer season at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2. The village of Lake in the Hills will host a pirates' treasure hunt at 1 p.m. on June 2 to celebrate the opening of the beach. The beach has a sand volleyball court and boats and kayaks are available to rent.
