PATCH REVIEW: 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2'

The end of the Harry Potter Series concludes perfectly.

Wow. The last ever Harry Potter movie. All 16 theaters filled to capacity at the Crystal Lake Showplace theater. It was quite amazing, people dressed in costumes all waiting for the rest of the country at 12:01 to start the eighth and final episode in the Harry Potter series. The fanfare around this movie really shows just how good the series has been and the great expectations for this movie. Personally, I believe every fan was happy.

Most books that turn into movies are normally not as good or as detailed as the book, but the Harry Potter series has proven that is not always true. Although many small details were taken out, the films remained true to the lengthy books, with author J.K. Rowling approving and assisting in each screenplay.

The seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series, The Deathly Hallows, was split into two movies. The second one released Friday morning in the U.S. was excellent. The actors in the movie showed so much emotion and made the story come alive for the audience.

I feel the screenwriters did a great job balancing the dramatic, thrilling, somber and funny scenes very well. Every scene was something different, and I think the writers did a great job condensing Rowling’s story, but including the major and some minor details while still allowing for true emotion.

The producers and director did an excellent job at capturing the emotion. The camera work was very well-done and the music, as always, was excellent. The dramatic pauses were put in at the right places, but were not too long.

The story was portrayed very well. I think the strong characters in this film were Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) obviously, Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), who played his part very strongly, Professor Severus Snape (Alan Rickman), who quite possibly had the most emotional scene in the entire movie and moved many people I saw in the theater to tears. Ron Weasly (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), the sidekicks to Potter, really showed their commitment to their friend and developed their relationship in the final installment. Professor Minerva McGonagall (Maggie Smith) was excellent as always, with very dramatic and hilarious scenes and one-liners. The whole cast proved their best in this movie.

As the Harry Potter movie franchise comes to an end, I believe this was the best of the eight movies. It was extremely well-written, well-produced, well-directed, and well-acted. It was a great end to a great series that will be hard to surpass. I certainly will call it one of the best movies I have ever seen.
