The Hetzel family of Libertyville is continuing their trip in London and sharing their expereince with Huntley Patch. The family is attending Olympic events and doing some sight-seeing. They even saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — William and Kate — at Wimbledon!
Here is Sarah Hetzel's Aug. 2 blog post:
"Today was an unbelievable day of tennis at Wimbledon! When we arrived, we got the lay of the land and found out who we would see… Omg are we excited! Centre Court! Azaranka, Djokovic, Federer, Isner (USA) and Sharapova! We went to the shop and bought a lot of souvenirs and gifts, then found our seats. Surprise surprise, it started raining while we were shopping. The roof was closed for the first match, Azaranka vs Kerber. Then the roof was opened and we had a beautiful day of sunshine and tennis! Djokovic won over Tsonga in two sets, Federer won in two over Isner, but a tough second set tiebreaker, and Sharapova beat Clijsters in two. Long day for the kids, but I loved every second! It was special, not only because i love and play tennis, but because my mother was British and London was a small part of my childhood. She would have been proud of how wonderful our London hosts have been. Great dinner at Quaglino’s and now it’s off to bed. Early day tomorrow at Olympic Park for Athletics (track and field)!"
