The Muskegon Chronicle reports three charges filed against Huntley resident Lance Adams III were dropped.
Adams, 50, is a police officer with the Elgin Police Department. Originally, Adams was charged with two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery, and one count resisting and obstructing a police officer, The Muskegon Chronicle reports.
On Monday, Jan. 30, Adams pleaded no contest in Muskegon County 14th Circuit Court to one misdemeanor charge: Attempted resisting and obstructing an officer, the Michigan newspaper reports, while the initial charges were dropped.
Adams will serve no jail time, but was sentenced to six months probation and $678 in fines, the story said.
The charges stem from a July 2011 incident when Adams and his nephew, Jamie Smith, 23, of South Bend, Ind., were at a Michigan amusement park. The pair was arrested after an alleged scuffle when two park workers would not allow them on a ride, according to the article.
Adams was placed on restricted duty at the Elgin Police Department after the initial charges. More on the story is available at The Muskegon Chronicle.
