Country Rock Band Makes it Big
Jamie Campbell and the Redneck Romeos just signed their first record deal, and released their first single last week.
The band just signed its first record deal with Spindoctors Music Group, who promotes up and coming artists and groups to all secondary radio stations.
The band’s first single “Miss. Communication” was released last week.
“It is pretty cool,” said Jacob Addis, the rhythm guitarist who grew up in Lake in the Hills. “We get to hear our songs on local radio stations, and well as a few Internet sites.”
Liz Miller wrote “Miss. Communication.” She writes songs as a hobby, and is located out of Pittsburgh. The band became linked with Miller through mutual connections.
“She gave the song to us, and we put our own little spin on it to make it ours,” Addis said.
Although Miller wrote their first single, the band writes the majority of their own songs.
“We have influences from all over the board,” Addis said. “We have guys who listen to county and guys who listen to rock. That is why we are a really good group together.”
Jamie Campbell and the Redneck Romeos formed in November of 2011 after lead singer Jamie Campbell made it into the top group in the National Star competition, which aired on USA and CMT.
Shelly Harper organized the band, and is now the manager.
“It was kind of like an arranged marriage,” Addis said with a laugh.
The band’s first performance was in January in Glendale Heights. This Friday, the band is performing at the Cadillac Ranch in Bartlett. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the performance runs from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m..
“It is our first time at the ranch and we are looking forward to playing there,” Addis said.
In the long run, Addis said that his goal is to have performing as a career. Currently, the band only performs on weekends, because during the week the members have “regular jobs,” Addis said.
Addis also said that he would like the band to put together a full album in the future.
“I would like to do this as a career, and that is the goal for all of us,” Addis said. “Right now it is a passionate hobby we all do.”
