Cold Weather Moving Into McHenry County
Bundle up. The next few days will be frigid in Northern Illinois.
Most people recognize Old Man Winter has been easy on Northern Illinois so far this year.
Some folks - especially teenagers at morning bus stops - are still running around in hoodies, shorts and T-shirts, not seeing the need to break out heavy winter coats and accessories.
That likely will change today, Sunday, Jan. 20.
Frigid temperatures moved in last night, accompanied by heavy winds and plummeting wind chill readings. Most of us will feel motivated to dig out the "puffy coats," hats, scarves and gloves as the next few days are expected to get even colder, according to Patch WeatherBug forecasts.
This morning, winds gusting up to 30 mph will decrease by afternoon to 10 to 14 mph, WeatherBugs says. Temperatures will top off between 14 to 18 degrees, and wind chills will make it feel much colder, according to WeatherBug. Some wind chills could drop to -15 degrees by nightfall.
For Monday, temps should dip even lower with a high projected of only 4 to 8 degrees. Wind chills will push those down -20. Overnight temperatures will drop as low as -7, with wind chills making it feel like -25 below, WeatherBug predicts.
The high for Tuesday is forcast at 8 degrees, and on Wednesday a slight warmup will bring us back to the upper teens, about 18 degrees, WeatherBug forecasts show.

This weather may remind people why extreme winters are (a) not soft and fuzzy and (b) not a thing of the past. For more about the possible onset of (mild) global cooling, check this book: http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Sell-Your-Coat-Surprising/dp/0615569048/ref=tmm_pap_title_0

Harold, i'm going to read your book.
How we went from 'global warming' to 'man made climate change' should be enough to give any reasonable person pause... but the alarmists out there need to stick to the narrative, despite all evidence to the contrary.
After the leading global warming 'scientist', Michael Mann, was exposed as a liar, the alarmists STILL trot out the contention that "...well, most scientists agree.."
Well, most scientists are driven by the almighty dollar, too.
Props to you for the people who have recommended your book, including James Delingpole..

Dan,
First, thanks for the kind words. Second, it is reassuring that people people like yourself, armed with facts, are willing to fight for common sense and human dignity in this climate debate. I hope you like the book!
