Centegra’s Health Strong Woman Focuses on Women’s Health
Guest speaker Mimi Donaldson to discuss being healthy and busy.
Centegra Health System will host the seventh annual Health Strong Woman event Thursday, Feb. 21 as a reminder to women of McHenry County to take care of their own health and wellness.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Crystal Lake. Admission is $10.
Each year, Centegra hosts a special guest speaker at the event. This year, Centegra will bring author, humorist and cancer survivor Mimi Donaldson.
In her book, “Bless Your Stress - It Means You’re Alive,” Donaldson shares simple strategies on how to laugh at all that life throws. Donaldson promises to entertain while providing a positive insight on the blessings of stress.
In addition to the many free screenings being offered at the event, attendees can check their risk for stroke with a $129 vascular screening. A vascular screening is a comprehensive package that includes an ultrasound to detect plaque buildup in the carotid artery. Performed on the Centegra Wellness on the Move mobile health unit during the event, the results are completely confidential and a follow up report will be mailed to the patient so the results can be shared with a physician. Call 877-CENTEGRA to schedule an appointment.
Attendees will enjoy a healthy lunch and free health screenings, which include blood pressure, bone density, carpal tunnel, and diabetes and foot screenings. Find out a heart’s age with a risk assessment tool. Guests will receive a $10 gift card to Algonquin Commons upon arrival as well as have the opportunity to win raffle prizes, many donated by Algonquin Commons.
Every lady will also receive a free fresh water pearl. Be sure to ask about signing up for Centegra’s Pearls for Wellness program the day of the event.
During the Centegra Health Strong Woman event, guests will meet two of Centegra’s own specialty physicians who will share their knowledge during a presentation on how to be a healthy woman. They will discuss heart health and arthritis concerns that are prevalent today.
A lunch and learn component allows attendees the chance to gain personal access to physicians, dietitians, personal trainers and more.
Women may stop by during their lunch break or stay for a day of free health screenings and presentations to learn more about being a Centegra Health Strong Woman. Bring a friend and a calendar to share in the educational experience with practical tips for healthy living now, with the opportunity to make an appointment onsite for healthy living in the future.
To register for the event, visit centegra.org/healthstrong or call 877-CENTEGRA, or 877-236-8347. There is limited seating and tickets sell quickly. The first 300 to pre-register and attend will receive a free salad shaker.
