Nora Dunn, formerly of Saturday Night Live, supports Leslie Coolidge for Congress

Nora Dunn, former cast member of Saturday Night Live, has filmed a video for Leslie Coolidge, Democratic candidate for Congress in Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District.  The video, just posted on YouTube (http://youtu.be/Z2vNyxEzr08), is an ironic take on how important this election is, particularly for women.

“As a woman, I feel threatened by Republicans who believe that the only good government intervention is interference with a woman’s right to choose,” said Dunn.  “As I say in the video, Leslie’s opponent, Peter Roskam, says ‘no’ to preserving our rights, as well as preserving Medicare and doing anything to help the economy become stronger.  He thinks that cutting taxes for the rich and cutting regulations will create jobs.  That’s funny.”

Dunn met Leslie Coolidge by chance at a political rally in downtown Chicago and was convinced that Leslie would be the kind of Congresswoman she would like to see in the House of Representatives.  Although she cannot vote for her, Dunn wanted to help get the word out about Leslie’s candidacy and what she and her opponent stand for.  The video makes it clear that they are polar opposites on almost every issue, including whether victims of rape and incest should receive abortion care.

“I am very grateful to Nora for taking an interest in my campaign,” said Coolidge.  “The more people hear about Peter Roskam’s record on women’s and senior issues, I think, the more they will look to me to protect those rights.

The Sixth Congressional District covers parts of five counties: Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane and DuPage.  For more information, visit Leslie’s web site, www.coolidgeforcongress.com.
